Martyn Jones retires

Or more accurately "rat leaves sinking ship"... as it becomes obvious that Labour are going to get hammered in the next General Election, we will see many more MPs opting for the fat pension and comfortable retirement rather than fight on in 2010.
It says a lot that, after 22 years, Martyn will be best remembered for his distinctive bow ties.

Who will replace Martyn (who?) Jones then?, will it be his ex agent and ex Councillor Stella Matthews; or Clive Wilkinson (Karen Sinclair AM's PA) or Nick Colbourne who has already been selected to stand in Montgomeryshire, will he remain loyal or will the temptation of a marginal seat be too much for him. The real dark horse could be Malcolm King, who will be after a job once he closes the Venture down on the 1st July,h will lose not one but two jobs, his Council seat as well. Some leading Labour members have suggested Eluned Morgan but I don't see it. I think greater things are planned for Eluned such as a safe Assembly seat; could that be Mid and West Wales Regional Seat now Alun Davies has gone to unwinnable Blaenau Gwent.

John Bell could be a shoe in now! Good luck from what I have seen of his recent campaigning! He was fantastic at Ysgol Pontfadog last night.

Nick, Clive and Stella are out of touch and there is no local candidate credible to maintain Martyn's majority.

I can see Clwyd South turning blue sooner rather than later!

Shame he wasn't at Pontfadog, Llanarmon and Glyn Ceiriog a few months ago when the campaign was really starting. Bell's missed the boat on this.
I doubt whether even our anonymous True Blue really believes Cefn, Ruabon, Rhos, Coedpoeth and New Broughton are turning Blue. True they're turning from Labour but they're not convinced by Etonians who want to slash public services and cut taxes for millionaires.

Martyn's timing is interesting isn't it - a day before the expenses scandal broke. I wonder how deep in the trough has our local MP been?

New Broughton and Coedpoeth are very right wing areas! Not yours and Janets cup of tea Mr Jones!

Take the blue-tinted goggles off, Mr Rogers, you might see a bit clearer.
