Balance Your Bobbies

What is ‘Balance Your Bobbies’?
Balance Your Bobbies is a fresh and innovative way for you, the public, to let us know what is important to you. Your responses inform your local Neighbourhood Policing Teams of key issues specific to your community, and by Balancing your Bobbies you will be able to inform your District Inspector where you believe his/her neighbourhood policing resources should be spent.

Check this website out, its a good way for everyone to express their views on what our Neighbourhood Policing Priorities should be. Since the 1st November 2009, only 33 people in the Wrecsam North District have used the system with a similar number in the Town district (36) but considerably more in the Wrecsam South District(61).

Please use the system, it's one of the ways to get the Police to prioritise what we want them them to!

Unfortunately fighting crime and what the public tell us they want, are often not the same thing, such is the blurring of the lines regarding what the police's role is, against that of the responsibilities of others, including the council and members of the community themselves.... Our hands are routinely tied by disinterest and apathy rather than ... See Morefear. Voting X-factor style is not putting your head above the parapet or accepting accountability for the environment in which we live or the well being of the community. It's a gimmick and a cop-out. Do the numbers who have expressed any preference really reflect the community's wishes or the greater good? As you are inferring already Arfon, no they do not. These numbers do not reflect anything but the same people who would contact the police by other means, regardless. If the community have a beef, they should be reporting it and then following through and putting pen to paper in the form of statements, and allowing the police, CPS and the courts to act. Anything else is playing at it. It is no longer enough to say that the old bill should be making more of an effort. Why? Because everyone should be. At some point other sections of society and the individual citizen need to step up to the mark, ignorance or lack of information can hardly be claimed as a legitimate 'get-out' in this day and age. Web-sites are fine for putting across a message, but no substitute for responsible action by the individual.

Tell me about it, but I feel inclined to recommend it to my electors because its another way for them to get their views across. To be honest it does feel a bit like the neighbourhood policing meetings when the Police accept 6 priorities and return in 3 months to say what they've done but there again its the same old problems nothing changes. Its got a stage managed feel to it.

Maybe we just simply protect people and property and lock up the baddies !!! No gimmicks no tick the boxes just simple policing and read the books by charlie owen !

As you know Steve I fully support what you say but the Government wants forces to comply with the Policing Pledge and that means consult with the public and we as elected members need to bring this innovation to notice. I will try everything!

As a member of the public I say catch baddies put in prison and serve full sentence, younger magistrates and judges so we can no longer give sentences from dixon dock green era.

Erm, does that include the reference to the books of Charlie Owen? I'm not entirely sure if that's the model that we really want our police forces to follow. :-D

I think Steve is making the point about how far the other way Policing has gone, its a bit like comparing Life on Mars.
