Voices of Colwyn Bay

HT to Syniadau for making a connection, tenuous perhaps, between the Tory MP for Clwyd West David Jones and the 'sometimes' BNP Councillor on Colwyn Bay Town Council, John Oddy. Is it a coincidence that the title of David Jones's recent blog posting is the same as John Oddy's blog, "Voices of Colwyn Bay."? It will be interesting to see if the BNP will field a candidate in this Tory marginal seat.

When I wrote the post, my main point was to show that David Jones was being naïve and remarkably unaware of what he was doing. I was showing him up as a rather dim-witted politician.

However he will now know that he is thanking a BNP supporting Councillor, and giving that Councillor's blog publicity by both linking to it and, in particular, using its name as the title of his post.

So let's see what happens next. If David does manage to dissociate himself from a Councillor that has certainly lapsed back to the BNP (although I think it more likely he never really left, except in name) it would reflect well on his political principles ... but still leave him rather behind on political awareness.

I must admit that I hadn't envisaged there being any sort of political agreement, so yes, it will be interesting to see whether the BNP put up a candidate in Clwyd West. The constituency is so marginal (David Jones won by only 133 votes in 2005) that the presence of a BNP candidate in this year's election is very likely to affect the result.

David Jones will have enough problems with an UKIP candidate who has previously stood in this constituency... this one could go against the flow.
