The Druid...non aligned?

Total Politics have just published their 50 top non-aligned blogs.
Coming in at number 37 is our dear friend from Ynys Mon, the Druid; a blog that I would be hard pressed to describe as non-aligned. The Druid's blog is probably more 'conservative' than the traditional Welsh Conservative blogs of Dylan Jones Evans, David Jones and Cardiff Blogger. It is also what is commonly described as an 'attack blog' in it's hostility and partisanship against certain political parties, in this case, Plaid Cymru and Labour.

The Druid is most certainly not a non aligned political blog.

As numbers 15 and 21 amongst the non-aligned, I defend the Druid's right to be amongst the non-aligned.

I make no bones about the fact that I have a particular dislike of the Labour Party, that I see the Lib Dems as purposely parking their tank on the anti-Welsh Lawn to fill the vacuum caused by the Welsh Conservatives embracing Wales - at last, in a way that would put a smile on the face of late Conservatives such as Sir Robert Williems Vaughan and Sir Geraint Morgan.

I support some of Plaid's policies for Wales and some Conservative polices for Wales, with a very, very strong leaning towards Plaid.

I am an uncompromising Welsh Nationalist, and an uncompromising opponent of Socialism – which makes it impossible for me to be aligned to Plaid –so I am non aligned.

The fact that the Druid is clearly opposed to Plaid and Labour doesn't make him a supporter of any alternative – he is as non aligned as I am! Or as non aligned as Peter Rogers is!

As you say Alwyn, you occasionally have harsh words to say about all the parties. I don't recall Druid attacking his beloved Peter Rogers or the Tories with the same consistency.

Why should I attack Peter Rogers? He is hardly responsible for the problems we face here on Anglesey.

As you may have noticed Anglesey hasn't been represented by a Conservative MP since 1987 -- 23 years ago -- nor, until very recently, has there been a Conservative administration in the UK since 1997 -- 13 years ago. What I'm concerned with is the CURRENT state of Anglesey and those who bear political responsibility for it NOW. And like it or not, the facts are:

- Ynys Môn has now been represented by Plaid Cymru's Ieuan Wyn Jones as either MP or AM for the past 25 years
- Until just a few months ago the UK has had a Labour government in Westminster for the past 13 years and Ynys Môn has had a Labour MP in the shape of Albert Owen since 2001
- The Welsh Assembly has been governed by Labour since 1999 until the emergence of a Labour/Plaid Cymru coalition in 2007

Therefore the truth is that Ynys Môn has been administered at some level by Labour and Plaid Cymru for almost quarter a century, yet you think that as an Anglesey resident I should somehow be directing my ire on the Conservatives or Peter Rogers for the Island's woes?

Alwyn,

Always had you aligned somewhere between 'strand one' of John Dixon's ideological classification of Plaid Cymru supporters and Llais Gwynedd.

Derwydd,

I also live in a contituency represented at Westminster by Labour since 1935, in the Assembly by Labour since 1999 and by Labour on Wrecsam Council until 2000 - 2005.
I am still not ideologically a Tory. Tell the readers of this blog are you or are you not an ideological Tory and if we'd had a Tory administation running all levels of government on Ynys Mon you probably wouldn't bother blogging at all because you'd have nothing to criticise!!

I didn't choose the monicker "non-aligned" - Total Politics put me in that category without any influence from me.

As for my political preferences, I think they are quite clear from my postings. Anyway lets just say "watch this space" - perhaps the time will come to align myself?

Yes, come out of the closet please!
