The Latest on Biffo.

Brian Cowen, An Taoiseach and Leader of Fianna Fáil won a confidence vote of the FF Parliamentary Party tonight and as a result his main challenger Foreign Minister, Micheál Martin tendered his resignation which was reluctantly accepted. It is not known by how many votes Cowen won. Cowen will now lead Fianna Fáil into the next General Election whenever that will be.

Not much in it then? Heard Cowen and leader of Greens, John Gormley meeting today to agree date of GE11; could be as late as April.

Mary Harney an Independent member of the FF coalition and Minister of Health now tenders resignation stating she will not stand in GE11.
Harney first elected TD in 1981 was Leader of the now defunct Progressive Democrats. Does this mean potentially an earlier GE11.un

At the last count - think a total of 6 ministers of the ruling FF coalition have now resigned. No wonder FG and Labour calling for early election. Looks like total disarray.
