Leading councillors ignore people's views on city status

Today's Executive Board voted 7-2 to press ahead with the doomed bid for city status, despite a 2-1 rejection of the idea in the poll they commissioned.

Only Plaid Cymru's Arfon Jones along with Dave Bithell respected the views of the vast majority of Wrecsam people sufficiently to vote against. Mark Pritchard abstained.

As Cllr Jones said: "Why commission a poll if you then ignore it?"

Labour, Tory and Lib Dems all voted for.

The general view seemed to be - "the people have spoken, the bastards!"

They are a disgrace. They've just completely ignored the very people they're supposed to represent.
