Cymraeg yn y Gweithle - Cyngor Sir Wrecsam

Dyma ymateb Cyngor Sir Wrecsam i gais o dan Deddf Rhyddid Gwybodaeth am y nifer o swyddi sydd wedi ei dynodi lle mae'r Gymraeg yn hanfodol. Yn gyntaf datgelodd y Cyngor faint o swyddi sydd o fewn y cyngor sef 6513 neu 4957 o swyddi llawn amser (FTE).

Y rhifau ar gyfer pob adran ydy:

Tai a Diogelu'r Cyhoedd - 0

Gofal Cymdeithasol i Oedolion - 0

Amgylchedd - 0

Adran Corfforedig a Gwasanaethau Cwsmeriaid - 3

Lles a Datblygu Cymunedol - 2

Cyllid - 0

Asedau a Datblygu Economaidd - 1

Dysgu Gydol Oes - 9

Atal a Gofal Cymdeithasol Plant - 0

Dydy y wybodaeth yma ddim yn cynnwys athrawon mewn swyddi lle mae'r Gymraeg yn hanfodol er dwi o'r farn fod y cyfanswm swyddi yn cynnwys holl athrawon a gyflogir gan y Sir.

Er fod y rhifau yma tipyn yn well na'r sefyllfa yng Nghasnewydd a sir Fynwy er engraifft, mae'n siomedig nad oes un swydd yng  Nghofal Cymdeithasol Oedolion NA Phlant lle mae'r Gymraeg yn hanfodol a  mae hyn yn gwbwl annerbyniol.

Mae y rhifau yma fel yn nifer o awdurdodau Cymru ddim yn cyfateb i'r gyfran o siaradwyr Cymraeg sydd yn byw yn y Sir.

Siawns na fydd Safonau Iaith Comisiyndd y Gymraeg yn gwella ar y sefyllfa fel ac y mae.

"WELSH IN THE WORKPLACE - WREXHAM COUNTY COUNCIL

Here's the reaction of Wrexham County Council to a request made under the Freedom of Information act for the number of jobs in the council where Welsh is considered essential. First of all the council revealed the total number of jobs within the council; 6513, or 4957 full-time jobs.

The numbers for each department are:

Housing and Public Safety - 0

Adult Social Care - 0

Environment - 0

Corporate and Customer Services - 3

Health and Community Development - 2

Finance - 0

Assets and Economic Development - 1

Lifelong learning - 9

Children & Young People - Prevention and Social Care - 0

These numbers do not include teachers in positions where Welsh is essential, although I believe the figure given for the sum total of council employees includes the teaching staff employed by the council.

Even though these numbers are an improvement over the situation in Newport or Monmouthshire, it is disappointing to find that not one position in social care for adults OR children requires knowledge of Welsh and this is entirely unacceptable.

These numbers, as in a number of Welsh local authorities, do not correspond with the number of Welsh speakers in the county.

Rhys - Thanks for doing this, I've been away in Glasgow and was full of good intentions of doing it tonight. My main reasoning behind FOI'ing all 22 authorities in Wales was to refute the arguments of anti Welsh websites like Gogwatch and Glasnost who claim you cannot get a job in Wales without speaking Welsh. This reply from Wrecsam shows that the proportion of employees in Wrecsam whose jobs are Welsh essential are only a fraction of the Welsh speaking population of Wrecsam and the same applies to many other LA's in Wales with the exception of Gwynedd.
