Bryn Estyn - let's see the pulped report

The Jimmy Savile case may unearth some more serious child-abuse scandals that have been covered up or under-reported for fear of upsetting the powerful.
At least now the media are more willing to believe the victims, many of whom were understandably traumatised by their experiences. Compared to the powerful professsionals who they were testifying against, it's little wonder that juries and judges chose to believe articulate men against people who were damaged and often addicted to drugs or alcohol.
The BBC report about the child abuse scandals of Bryn Estyn and Bryn Alyn that rocked Wrecsam in the 1990s mentions that Clwyd County Council pulped an independent report on the Bryn Estyn scandal. We need to know what that independent investigation unearthed and who was named in it.
Former Tory Minister Rod Richards has named (now dead) former Chester Tory MP Peter Morrison as one of those who abused children in Bryn Estyn and Bryn Alyn. There is no doubt that there were more establishment figures who visited the homes.
Was the report pulped to protect those guilty parties?

There were quite a few investigations into individual care homes across North Wales before Waterhouse. There are several members of the old Clwyd Social Services committee still involved in local politics, they should make statements as whether they were aware of a Clwyd CC report that allegedly was never made public.

The real truth is hidden away in the offices of the Solicitors that defended the Council............and their Insurer's

I was in Rhiwlas , Flint and we all were told we couldn't complain about staff unless we had proof of evidence against them so no one had a hope.Clwyd Council must have loads of hidden files. U were on your own in the hostels and made to remember it. Sandie

We should make a request of Flintshire, Wrecsam and Denbighshire for the report under FOIA, they are Clwyd CC successor authorities. We then take it all the way, the courts may rule that it is the public interest to publish it.

As we all know, or may NOT know, Defendant's Solicitor's and Insurer's Solicitor's will use every ploy and scam to prevent total disclosure, the real evidence was NOT shown, the real truth and documents are hidden away, to PROTECT the Council... I hope these people, the professionals who denied JUSTICE through trickery and deceit are having sleepless night's, they ran the Inquiry their way, Waterhouse was hoodwinked, I hope the TRUTH comes out and the CONMEN who denied the ABUSED their proper hearing are sweating everyday...their day will surely come.

I was a victim, sorry I am a victim. I went through hell, no one cared, no one listened. I was a victim in the 70's, my life was smeared like a fresh turd. I gathered strength I wrote to my MP, to get help, they wrote to him too, they lied, the MP listened to them but ignored me. I wrote to Carwyn Jones, he told me I was bitter and to get a life............. what life, my life went down the pan the day I was abused. I listened to Theresa May and Carwyn on Radio 4 news tea time today, they know that too little is too late, all I want to know is this.
When I wrote to my MP and he queried the Council and they wrote and lied to him, what hope does some one like me have? If they can lie to an MP who else have they lied to?

David Icke brought up abuse in North Wales homes over a decade ago, check it out!
I did a little research on Bryn Estyn some years ago, I learnt that the Freemasons were/are involved in it. How many Masonic lodges are in Wrexham? A lot! How many ex-priests buried in Wrexham cemetery are buried under obelisks??

Wrexham is a joke, it's lower working class people are utterly hopeless.

If the investigation goes all the way (I totally doubt it will)then people are going to be really shocked, big names would be named, Ted Heath is one of them. It would even go to Buckingham palace. People have no idea what people high up are doing. Judges, Police, Doctors, MPs... They lookout for each other and they control everything.

Good luck

Do you know what the shameful thing is about Wales and our so called Political Elite? The fact that they do NOTHING to help, they are worthy of the title Shameful. We can write what we want, but at the end of the day, we are quite prepared to watch and read about young children being buggered but doing nothing, absolutely noting to help them. As long as we sit on the fence, and watch, and listen, and ignore the horrendous cries of the abused, then that makes us as GUILTY AS THE ABUSERS.

Shame on you all, shame on the greedy politicians who do nothing, shame on the greedy Lawyer's who do nothing, shame on the greedy lazy and inept Police Force, who do nothing. Shame on Wales for ignoring the cries of the abused.

For any victims who don't feel they want to contact the police due to previous bad experiences, I would urge you to speak to the NSPCC to make sure your voice is heard. Leanne Wood, Plaid Cymru's leader, has also said she is available to hear testimony confidentially if people feel more comfortable with that.
The important thing is not to allow this to be buried once again and for the truth to come out.
Anon 00:44 - anyone who bigs up David Icke and condemns Wrecsam's working class is looking on the wrong website.

Can anyone give me Leanne Wood's address and a guarantee that any correspondence is kept secret and confidential??

Contact Leanne on Leanne.Wood@Wales.gov.uk - she has given an assurance that whatever information will remain secret and confidential.

Thank you for the contact address, it's taken me all day to gather my wits and thought's to try and gather words in a structured form so that it will make sense.

I suppose in a nutshell, my life was doomed the day I wrote to my MP.
My fault really, there's me a young adult writing to my MP for help, who else was there to turn to at the time? I poured my heart out to him. He wrote and asked for guidance to the Council, ( The Defendants) they wrote a pack of lies, I was made to look a right prat!
At that moment in time, there was no Internet, and the only help you could really get was from your MP. I always thought that MP's were decent, honest people, they were there to help the people, right? Well, in my case, the Defendant's were part of the same filthy sewer, and as a victim of abuse, I was ignored.
The MP's Oath of Allegiance.. is to the Monarch. but their role is for the people and I always thought that it was to Provide appropriate assistance to individual constituents, through using
knowledge of local and national government agencies and institutions, to progress
and where possible help resolve their problems. Nothing could be further from the truth. If a Government Agency lies to an MP to prevent the abused getting at the truth and getting help, then what hope has the victim of the abused got to get at the truth. I hope Leanne is as good as her word and not trying to get point's over Labour because that would be UNFAIR, it's not the money, it's the humility I feel day by day, knowing that what they did was wrong, but no-one wants to make it better.
I hope Leanne has a strong constitution.

Hi Anon - I've known Leanne for more than 20 years and she won't let you down.
I can't imagine what people have gone through as kids in this hell hole, but I have a 12-year-old boy and it breaks my heart/infuriates me to think kids his age were systematically abused by these people. Believe me, there are people who want to make this better.

Like Ann Clwyd said " It was the attitude of the Insurer'!" enough said, there can never be justice if the Insurer's make sure that they use every means possible to deny Victims justice. They use very trick in the book NOT to disclose damaging evidence, I should know they did it to me.
Would Leanne Wood still want to read about that? How the Insurer's would go to the House of Lord's tO appeal against DISCLOSING EVERYTHING!!, even the Council Solicitor was the same, The Insurer's ran the last Inquiry, fact.

Plaid Whitegate said...

The insurers would have advised the council that it was a defamatory report. The council still had to make a political decision whether to print or not.
That is where the problem lies.
It can be argued that the council, in not publishing, played its part in covering up alleged criminal activities of the worst kind.
At the least the council could have published a redacted version (i.e. one with the names blanked out) to allow us to judge what the allegations were.
From there, we might have made some progress but the council's mistake in not publishing has allowed many people to walk free.

Ann Clwyd missed an opportunity in bringing the contents of Jillings to light under parliamentary privilige only she knows why she didn't.

What we need to know is who in Clwyd CC decided the report was suppressed officers or members?

To suppress allegations about serious criminal activity is tantamount to an offence of perverting the course of justice. Who else could cover up criminal offences and get away with it.

The decision to suppress this report will also be minuted somewhere!

It is also suggested that North Wales Police AND the Waterhouse investigators saw the Jillings report which makes the cover up much much worse.

We need a separate enquiry into the actions of Clwyd County Council into the suppression of this report.

More power to all your elbows!

I was a resident/prisoner of Bryn Estyn circa 1960/1 and very pleased to see that good people are still 'on the case' of this outrage that went on for so long.

There is still a huge amount of filth under the carpet that needs exposing and I wish you well in your endeavours.

May 2013 be the year the light is finally shone on this dark area.

John.
